Foreign Language Exemption Exam for Turkish-Medium Associate and Undergraduate Programs
- The Foreign Language Exemption Exam is held for students enrolled in Associate and Undergraduate Programs whose medium of instruction is Turkish.
- The duration of the exam, which includes 50 multiple-choice questions, is 50 minutes.
- This exam aims to assess the knowledge of vocabulary and grammar as well as the reading skill.

- Students must be on campus at least 15 minutes before the exam time.

- Our students are required to score 60-69/100 to be exempt from Foreign Language I courses, and 70/100 and above to be exempt from Foreign Language I and II courses.

EXAMS FOR ENGLISH-MEDIUM UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS
Foreign Language Placement Exam (YDSTS)
- The Foreign Language Placement Exam (YDSTS) is administered for students who have enrolled in English- medium undergraduate programs
- The duration of the exam, which includes 50 multiple-choice questions, is 70 minutes.

- The purpose of this exam is to determine the students who will be entitled to take the English Proficiency Exam by assessing the knowledge of vocabulary and grammar as well as the reading skill of the students and to place them in an appropriate level in Prep Class.
- In order for students to have the right to take the English Proficiency Exam, they must get 40 or more points out of 100 from this exam. Students with a score below 40/100 study in the Preparatory Class.
- Students are required to show a valid identity document (ID, passport, student card, driver's license, etc.) on the exam day.
- Students must bring a pencil and eraser on the exam day.
- Students must be on campus at least 15 minutes before the exam time.
- Students must attend the exams on time and follow all the announcements.

- Students must take the placement exam in order to study in a suitable level in Prep Class.
English Proficiency Exam (YDYS)
(At the Beginning of Fall Semester)
- Newly registered students who will study in English-medium departments, students who get 40 points or more from the placement test and “repeat” students can take this exam.
- This exam aims to assess listening, reading, writing and speaking skills.
- Each part of the exam is worth 25 points and the total weighting of each component is the same.

English Proficiency Exam (YDYS)
(At the end of Fall Semester and Academic Year)
- English Proficiency Exam is administered at the end of Fall Term for B1+ and B2 level students who meet the criteria and for repeat students.
- Students who meet the criteria in Prep Class level system are entitled to participate in the exam held at the end of Spring Semester. Students whose exam results and performance evaluation grades are sufficient can start their departments upon successfully completing the Preparatory Class.

English Proficiency Exam for Horizontal Transfer Students
- Students who enroll in English-medium undergraduate programs via horizontal transfer can take this exam.
- This exam aims to assess listening, reading, writing and speaking skills.
- Each part of the exam is worth 25 points and the total weighting of each component is the same.

Foreign Language Exam for Applicants to English-Medium Master’s Degree Programs
- Candidates who apply to the English-medium graduate programs of our University can take this exam.
- This exam aims to assess the knowledge of grammar and vocabulary as well as listening, reading and writing skills.
- Each part of the exam is worth 25 points and the total weighting of each component is the same.
- Exam planning, details and venue lists are announced on the official website of the School of Foreign Languages (https://ydyo.iku.edu.tr/ > “News”) before the exam.
- Students are required to show a valid identity document (ID, passport, student card, driver's license, etc.) on the exam day.
- Students must be on campus at least 15 minutes before the exam time.

- Students must get at least 70 out of 100 points in order to be successful in the proficiency exam. Passing grade for applicants to the Department of English Language and Literature is 80 out of 100 points.
- Students can learn their exam results from the Institute of Graduate Education.

- Students of our University who apply to the Erasmus program can take this exam.
- This exam aims to assess at least two parts of the exam, which are Use of English, reading, writing, listening and speaking. The parts to be assessed are determined by the School of Foreign Languages and announced before the exam.
- Each part has the same weighting on the overall score.

- These exams are applied for academic and administrative staff.

- Each part has the same weighting on the overall score.

- This exam is applied for students and academic staff.
- The exam aims to assess the candidates' knowledge of vocabulary and grammar as well as their reading and writing skills. This exam aims to assess at least two of the parts of the exam, which are Use of English, reading, writing, listening and speaking. The parts to be assessed are determined by the School of Foreign Languages and announced before the exam.
- Each part has the same weighting on the overall score.
- Candidates taking this exam must get at least 51 points out of 100.
- Exam takers can learn their results from the International Office.
